The Benefits of Using Transcript

The fast, electronic transcription of prescriptions from medication charts with Transcript delivers the following benefits for your pharmacy.

  • Improved accuracy and quality of transcription of prescription details from medication charts – and improved safety for the patient.
  • With integration of transcribed patient and prescription details directly into the pharmacy dispensing system, there is no need
for re-interpretation of handwritten details at the dispensary.
  • New patient details can be added at the point of care as well, eliminating the need to re-enter all data back at the pharmacy.
  • The automatic download of patient information and prescription records from the pharmacy dispensing system and the subsequent upload of the care facility's newly transcribed patient and prescription details back into the pharmacy dispensing system maximises workflow efficiencies – significant time is saved.
  • Access to assessment and decision support tools at the point of care enables informed decision making.
  • Transcript enables a full audit trail – it is the ideal system for conducting medication management or formalised medication reviews in nursing homes, domicillary pharmacy, co-ordinated care and pharmacy care.

The Transcript Process

    1. Prior to visiting the hospital ward or nursing home, download the relevant patient and prescription records from your pharmacy dispensing system into the Transcript Tablet PC – full synchronisation.
    2. Once at the facility, access the patient's records – you may search by Surname, Given Name or Ward Number.
    3. Enter the new or repeat medication details from the medication charts – use the decision support and pull down menus for assistance. At the same time you may update patient and/or prescription details if required. You may use the traditional keyboard and mouse or the tablet stylus for input.
    4. At the same time you may enter details for new patients.
    5. Upon return to your pharmacy, simply connect the Transcript Tablet PC to your pharmacy dispensing system PC or server for the automatic upload of the new patient and prescription details into the pharmacy dispensing system
